Sweet Earth Launches Jumbo Vegan Hot Dog
Vegetarian and vegan-friendly convenience food company, Sweet Earth, just announced several new vegan meat products in time for summer grilling season. The lineup includes a recipe revamp of the Sweet Earth Awesome Burger 2.0 and Vegan Jumbo Hot Dogs.
Sweet Earth isn’t the first company to reformulate and relaunch a vegan burger patty. Impossible Foods is currently on version 2.0 while Beyond Meat just released a 3.0 version of its highly acclaimed Beyond Burger. The new Sweet Earth Awesome Burger 2.0 is the first plant-based beef patty on the market to include a mix of fava, hemp, and pea protein. The trio of diverse proteins presumably makes for an even beefier, more authentic burger.
Sarah Wheeler, Sweet Earth general manager, exclaimed, “Our relentless approach to innovation allows us to offer consumers tasty, nutrient-diverse protein options they can feel good about incorporating into their diets. With more people eager to try delicious plant-based options, we’re excited to bring an even greater variety of favorites to consumers’ backyards and kitchens this summer.”
The new vegan hot dogs are made with a blend of pea and potato proteins. The company aspired to create a replica of classic baseball stadium franks with the same sizzle, bite, and snap of its pork-based predecessor. True to their name, Sweet Earth’s jumbo dogs are 23 percent larger than its plant-based competitors.
Both products will be available at Kroger grocers by August, though the Awesome Burger 2.0 has already begun rolling out to Target, Whole Foods, Sprouts, Amazon Fresh, and other national supermarket chains.
