Freebirds World Burrito Adds Vegan Chorizo to Menu

Texas’ favorite burrito spot is leveling up! Freebirds World Burrito has added two more vegan options to its menu.

Freebirds World Burrito Adds Plant-Based Chorizo and Grain-Free Tortillas

Freebirds World Burrito is about to make a whole lot of vegans happy! As of January 24, they are adding plant-based chorizo and vegan, grain-free tortillas to the menu at all 50+ of their Texas locations.

The plant-based chorizo comes from Abbot’s Butcher, a leading plant-based meat brand whose products are made from simple and whole ingredients. The brand’s chorizo is gluten-free and made from pea protein, smoked paprika, and zesty spices for a finish that tastes surprisingly like animal-based chorizo. Like the rest of Abbot’s Butcher’s products, the plant-based chorizo is Whole30-approved and free from all additives, soy, and canola oil.

The other addition is the grain-free tortillas from Siete Family Foods, a request that Freebirds’ gluten-free customers have been calling for for some time. The burrito-sized tortillas are made from avocado oil, apple cider vinegar, coconut sugar, sea salt, yeasts, and four different types of grain-free flours (coconut, cassava, tapioca, and arrowroot). The grain-free tortillas are available for a $3.20 upcharge, while the plant-based chorizo is $1-3 more than the animal-based protein options.

Other Vegan Options at Freebirds World Burrito

Freebirds is surprisingly vegan-friendly. All of the restaurant’s beans, rice, and tortilla options are vegan, as well as all of their sauces and dressings except for the BBQ and ranch (yes, even the creamy jalapeno sauce is vegan!).
