Billie Eilish and Chris Paul Debut New Documentary Highlighting Food Injustice This November
Viewers can download and stream the film starting November 11.
Billie Eilish and Chris Paul debut a new vegan documentary, They’re Trying To Kill Us this November. The film focuses on the inaccessibility to plant-based foods in Black and Brown communities, as told through the lens of John Lewis (aka Badass Vegan).
How Food Deserts Disproportionately Impact Communities of Color
With the topics of social justice, institutional racism, and food deserts at the forefront of today’s conversations in America, the release of They’re Trying To Kill Us couldn’t be more timely. The film follows vegan activist, public speaker, and co-director, John Lewis, as he travels across the country to explore why Americans of color are suffering from life-threatening diseases far more often than white Americans, and how switching to a plant-based diet is a major step in addressing this problem. The documentary is co-directed by Keegan Kuhn, who is known for his work on Cowspiracy and What the Health.
They’re Trying to Kill Us features interviews with celebrities, influencers, and leading professionals in the entertainment, hip-hop, sports, health, and medicine worlds who provide valuable insight on how food deserts disproportionately impact communities of color. Ne-Yo, Mya, Dame Dash, Maggie Q, as well as executive producers Billie Eilish and Chris Paul are just some of the icons you can expect to see in the film.
“The film opened my eyes to the larger underlying issue and disparities in the food system, and most people don’t realize it has been happening for decades. The conversations and dialogue are both thought-provoking and educational in so many areas,” shared Executive Producer Chris Paul.
They’re Trying To Kill Us Releases November 11
They’re Trying To Kill Us releases November 11 at 11am EST exclusively on the film’s website. Viewers can download the documentary for $20. The first $1,000,000 raised by the film will be donated directly to charity.
Executive Producer Billie Eilish expressed, “I want people to see this film. It is so important to help all of us understand the depth of the issue, and that we must all take action to change the food system.”
