If you think the best vegan Christmas dinner is enjoyed most when it’s made by a chef at a restaurant, we totally get it! Holiday cooking can be quite stressful, which is why we’ve created this guide. Here’s where to eat vegan on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day in Los Angeles!
Downtown LA & Culver City
LA’s top vegan Japanese restaurant, Shojin, is open on Christmas Day with a special four-course feast! The lineup includes a garbanzo miso soup, a “crab cake” with pink truffle cream that is torched at the table, a signature sushi platter, and a vegan meatloaf. Shojin’s Christmas Feast is available on December 25 from 12-9pm. The restaurant will also be open on Christmas Eve from 5-8:30pm with their regular menu.
If you’re looking to stray from traditional holiday dishes like stuffing and mashed potatoes, stop by Rahel Ethiopian Vegan Cuisine to nosh on vegan Ethiopian food. The fan-favorite restaurant is open on both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day from 11am-10pm with a full menu of flavorful food to share or enjoy solo. From stews and salads to sambusa and injera, there are so many delicious options.

This vegan oasis is offering a delicious Christmas Eve feast from 12-9pm. The prix fixe menu features a gougere starter with black truffle and hazelnut, followed by a beet and delicata squash dish, a white bean cassoulet, and a wild mushroom entree. The dessert combines winter citrus, cherries, mascarpone, and thyme. The entire meal is $95 per person with an optional wine pairing for $35.
West Hollywood & Pasadena
Real Food Daily has been an LA staple for over 25 years. To continue the trend of providing for vegans even on the holidays, the restaurant will be open on Christmas Eve from 11am-4pm. From classic burgers and pizzas to more innovative items like cheeseburger egg rolls, curry cakes, and breakfast calzones, Real Food Daily has it all! Our advice to you? Place a to-go order of mac ‘n’ cheese, baked potato wedges, and cornbread to serve as easy side dishes for your at-home Christmas feast.

Before you get snug in your bed on Christmas Eve, stop by Beelman’s to get something to eat and drink! From 12-10pm, the vegan pub will be open with a menu that boasts Korean BBQ fries, tacos, taquitos, bowls, burgers, and even breakfast burritos. You can order a vegan cocktail, draft beer, or non-alcoholic beverage to wash it all down.

From 4-9pm on Christmas Eve, Sestina will be open with a few holiday specials in addition to their full menu. First up on the specials menu is a salad composed of shaved Brussels sprouts, baby kale, radishes, fennel, almonds, almond parmesan, and a black truffle vinaigrette. Next is a wild mushroom risotto entree with asparagus, ricotta, and chestnut pesto. And last but certainly not least, an eggnog budino with gingerbread snaps and hazelnuts for dessert.
If you think the best vegan Christmas dinner involves vegan cheeseburgers, wings, vegan fried chicken, or mac ‘n’ cheese, pay a visit to Doomie’s Home Cookin’! This vegan comfort food hotspot is open later than any other vegan restaurant in Los Angeles. In fact, Doomie’s will be open from 11am on Christmas Eve until 3am the day after Christmas with their full menu. To make things even better, the Mexican restaurant next door, Doomie’s NextMex, will be open from 11am-1am on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

Thai food is a great option to enjoy during the holidays for extra warmth, comfort, and flavor. Vegan Glory will be open on Christmas Eve with their regular hours and full menu—noodles, curries, spring rolls, and dumplings galore.

Need a spot to enjoy vegan breakfast on Christmas morning? The Grain Cafe has you covered! Their extensive menu covers all the breakfast classics like French toast, huevos rancheros, tofu scramble, sweet and savory crepes, and more. The restaurant will be open on Christmas Eve from 6am-6pm and Christmas Day from 9am-5pm.
Modern Times is open on Christmas Eve until 5pm so you can have one last vegan hurrah before heading into Christmas morning. The kimchi croquettes, chorizo burrito, and apple crisp cheesecake are what we’re eyeing this season! How about you?
Arts District, Larchmont, Venice, & Newport Beach
Do you have a case of the holiday blues? This Christmas Eve, Cafe Gratitude is open until 4pm to lift your spirits with positive affirmations and fill your belly with nutrient-dense food. You probably already know this by now, but everything on the menu is amazing so we’d suggest ordering based on the dish name to manifest whatever you need this Christmas. We’re feeling the “I am Giving” Hawaiian flatbread pizza. Please note that most everything on Cafe Gratitude’s menu is vegan aside from a few beverages that contain honey.
Santa Monica & Pasadena
On Christmas Eve, you can get your grub on at True Food Kitchen! The Pasadena location will be open from 11am-10pm and the Santa Monica location will be open from 11am-8pm. The vegan menu items range from butternut squash pizza, charred cauliflower, and roasted Brussels sprouts to vegan double cheeseburgers, Korean noodle bowls, and squash pie.
West Hollywood & Newport Beach
This plant-based Mexican restaurant is open until 4pm on Christmas Eve so you can load up on all your favorite dishes before Santa comes to town! Whatever you do, don’t leave without ordering the nachos which come piled high with soy chorizo, cashew nacho cheese, beans, cauliflower, and guacamole. Everything at Gracias Madre is vegan aside from the Jiant hard kombucha which contains honey.
