Vegan Things to Do in L.A. This Weekend: February 14-16
We search the web for the best vegan things to do in the city, so you don’t have to. Here’s what’s happening this weekend.
Friday, February 14
Enjoy a Valentine’s Prix-Fixe Dinner
LA-area restaurants are serving special prix-fixe menus to help you get in the mood this Valentine’s Day. Check out Crossroads, Cafe Gratitude, and Plant Food and Wine, among others. Already have plans? Some restaurants, such as Vegetable in Studio City, are extending their exclusive menus through Sunday.
Vegan Cheese & Wine Valentines
Few pairings are more romantic than vegan cheese and wine. Of course, no significant other is needed to attend this delicious event. RSVPs via Eventbrite are highly recommended. The event begins at 7pm.
Vegan in El Monte Food Festival
Bring your valentine or best bud and enjoy the vegan eats and live music at this chill event. Vendors include the regulars such as Jades Vegan Sushi and Devis Donuts in addition to lesser known—but equally craveworthy—options such as Voodo Vegan Food and Plant Love Food.
Vegan Pop-Ups in Highland Park
Come for a cocktail at Block Party, stay for mouthwatering vegan street food vendors, and cap off the night with a midnight donut at Donut Friend. The party starts at 6pm and rages until 12am!
Saturday, February 15
Seabirds Kitchen Grand Opening & Fundraiser
While it’s been open since late 2019, the latest location of Seabirds Kitchen (inside South Coast Plaza) is hosting a grand opening and fundraiser. From 6-8pm, stop by for a party on the patio with elite vegan athletes, silent auction items, local art, exclusive cocktails and mocktails, and complimentary appetizers. Stay for dinner, as 10% of the day’s proceeds will benefit the Switch4Good nonprofit. Don’t leave without the banana pudding!
Ice Cream Social at Pop Up Grocer
Stop by this month-long pop-up vegan market steps away from Muscle Beach for a mid-day ice cream treat. The grocer will be sampling Craig’s Vegan Ice Cream between 1-4pm. Arrive early—they’re sure to run out before the three hours are up.
San Luis Obispo
If you have President’s Day off, consider taking the three-day weekend for a trip up the coast to San Luis Obispo. Admission is free and includes cooking demos, speakers, samples, and a wide array of local vendors we can almost guarantee you’ve never tried before. Every now and then it’s nice to get out of the LA bubble and experience the vegan cuisine of other regions.
Spiritual Block Party
Shake off those winter blues and feel alive again at this grounding festival. From 10am-10pm at the Joy of Sharing Community Center in Norwalk, participants will be treated to healing experiences, vegan cooking demonstrations, chakra activations, and more. Hungry? Vegan food trucks will be standing by.
Cooking Class at SunCafe
Master Mediterranean cuisine under the instruction of Chef Ron Russell. The day’s menu includes Feta & Garlic Greens, Sun-Dried Tomato and Mushroom Spaghetti Squash, Veggie Quinoa Pilaf, and Tuscan White Bean Salad.
Sunday, February 16
KW Vegan Fair
It’s back! This OC vegan community street fair outside of Kannabis Works has returned after a winter-long hiatus. Returning vendors include Baked Vegan Sweets, Los Salviganos, Erva Brew Co, and Vegan Wingz. Swing by between 11am-4pm.
Veganos En Boyle Heights Community Vegan Market
Explore the latest vegan event at this charitably minded community pop-up. Organized by the founders of Drink Leche, La Vuena Vida, and Dear Mama LA, this Latinx group of vendors is donating 10-percent of all proceeds to local community non-profits that advocate for immigrants rights.
Dance for a greener future! The Hammer Museum is promoting climate justice through social advocacy in the form of an eco-friendly, vegan dance party. Cena Vegan will be on-site to provide vegan fuel so you can dance all night long—or at least from 5pm-8pm, the duration of the event.
For some, a weekend is not complete without a trip to Smorgasburg. Indulge in your vegan favorites such as Cena Vegan, Madame Shugah, or try the new and vegan-friendly Burmese Please.
Vegan Exchange LA
Vegan Exchange is Vegan Street Fair’s weekly vegan market. From 11am-5pm, stroll Bakman Ave in NOHO looking for your next food and Instagram story victim. This Sunday only, be sure to check out The Pizza Plant truck for free samples!
