NYC’s Whipped Urban Dessert Lab to Open Los Angeles Location
The scoop shop is set to open in West Hollywood this winter!
What’s cool, creamy, and oatilicious? Oat milk ice cream! The rich and smooth plant-based frozen dessert has taken the world by storm in the past few years. If you live in Southern California and you’re looking to get your fix, we’ve got some exciting news for you! NYC’s Whipped Urban Dessert Lab is opening a vegan oat milk ice cream shop in Los Angeles.
World’s First Oat Milk Ice Cream Shop
Back in 2019, African-American sisters Zan B.R. and Courtney Blagrove set out to create a dessert destination where people of all dietary restrictions could enjoy a scoop of ice cream. And what better base to choose than the oh-so-popular oat milk? Whipped Urban Dessert Lab first opened as a pop-up shop in Brooklyn, New York. After a successful run, the sisters moved into a brick-and-mortar in Manhattan in 2020 which is recognized as the world’s first oat milk ice cream shop. Word quickly spread and foodies across the country were stalking the scoop shop’s Instagram page, just dreaming they’d expand to a city near them. For Angelenos, that dream is about to become a reality.
Whipped Urban Dessert Lab Is Opening a Location in Los Angeles
The recent announcement that Whipped Urban Dessert Lab is opening a location in Los Angeles has us jumping out of our seats! The new oat milk ice cream shop is set to open in West Hollywood this winter with a similar menu as the New York location. “Being that we created the world’s first oat milk ice [cream shop,] we are expanding to other cities so that more people can experience our brand and plant-based offerings in person. LA was the perfect city for the second location of Whipped being that it’s one of America’s top foodie destinations,” shared Zan B.R.
The Menu at Whipped Urban Dessert Lab in Los Angeles
Something unique about Whipped Urban Dessert Lab is that all of the flavors are tested and developed in-house. Blagrove holds a PhD in Nutrition and Metabolism and both sisters have a background in research. Using their extensive knowledge and skills, the dynamic duo researches the scientific elements of certain natural, high-quality ingredients and uses them to create super dense, rich, gluten-free, vegan ice cream flavors.
The menu at Whipped Urban Dessert Lab in Los Angeles will be similar to that in New York, with a few special menu items to celebrate the opening. Customers can pick their ice cream flavor(s) of choice in a cup or cone and dress it up in sauces and crumb coats. For those who are indecisive, try the hand-selected fusions. The Chocolate Peanut Butter Pretzel is one of the most popular menu items! It features the signature sweet creme base coated with pretzels, chocolate, and peanut butter sauce.
“We have developed an exceptional product that has quickly gained a cult following. We are truly changing the way people think and feel about non-dairy ice cream. We’re so excited to finally bring it to the city of Los Angeles, shared Blagrove.
