LA’s Pizzanista Launches Joan Jett Heart-Shaped Vegan Pizza
LA’s Pizzanista has collaborated with Miyoko’s Creamery and PETA to honor rock legend and animal rights activist Joan Jett with a limited-edition heart-shaped pizza in a Joan Jett-decorated box.
What better way to celebrate Veganuary than honoring one of the most epic singers and animal activists in the world? Visit Los Angeles’ Pizzanista this month to take part in their January collaboration with Miyoko’s Creamery and PETA to honor Joan Jett.
Joan Jett and the Vegan Pizza
The collaboration was announced on January 22 and will be available for a limited time. The vegan pizza will come on a hand-stretched crust made with activated black charcoal in the shape of a heart—a nod to the singer’s successful band Joan Jett and the Blackhearts. The special will come with house-made tomato sauce and Miyoko’s vegan cheese and is served in a limited-edition heart-shaped pizza box decorated with Joan Jett artwork.
Customers will have the option to add a variety of toppings to the pizza, including Be-Hive Bacon or Pepperoni, tons of veggies, double Miyoko’s mozzarella cheese, and even Pizzanista’s iconic vegan mac ‘n’ cheese (only available on Sundays). The 18” pie serves 4-5 people, and a portion of the proceeds from each pizza will be donated to PETA. This special is available at the Los Angeles Pizzanista location only. Orders can be placed here.
Joan Jett’s Animal Activism
Joan Jett ditched meat back in the 80s and has been using her voice to speak out against animal abuse and factory farming for a good portion of the past four decades. She has teamed up with PETA for several campaigns, including this testimonial from 2008 urging people to give up meat for the animals, their health, and the planet.
10 years ago, Jett was honored by fellow singer and PETA advocate Iggy Pop with the Nanci Alexander Activist Award—an award that PETA hands out each year to someone whose commitment to animal rights has a significant impact on the world.
