Come along as we explore the vegan and vegan-friendly pizza options Chicago has to offer!
Chicago is known for having some of the best deep-dish pizza spots around, and Kitchen 17 is no exception! The all-vegan eatery offers a variety of mouthwatering deep-dish pies, like the Plant-Eater (loaded with mozzarella, marinara, artichoke, onion, minced garlic, spinach, green pepper, and za’atar). Not in the Chicago area? You can still get your hands on a vegan ‘za by ordering from the restaurant’s website, as they ship frozen pizzas nationwide.
This rock-and-roll-inspired pizzeria is a casual neighborhood eatery that opened in the summer of 2020. Dine on the outdoor patio as you enjoy breadsticks made with vegan cheese and a Sunny Tomato pizza, which can be made vegan upon request and comes topped with sun-dried tomato, pickled green tomato, and black garlic pesto.
Paulie Gee’s is a rustic-chic bar and eatery that specializes in wood-fired pizzas featuring unique names and fresh ingredients. The pizzeria offers a separate vegan menu, which includes scrumptious plant-based pies such as the Vegan Daniela Spinaci (baby spinach, olive oil, vegan mozzarella, fresh sliced garlic, mild aleppo chili oil, and sea salt) and the Lady Lola Light (Italian tomatoes, vegan kimchi, serrano peppers, green onions, black and white sesame seeds, and chili oil glaze).
Wrigleyville & Wicker Park
Can’t decide between mac ‘n’ cheese or pizza? Well, you can have it all here at Dimo’s! The Vegan Mac pizza comes topped with mozzarella “Teese,” house-made vegan ranch, macaroni noodles, cheddar “Teese,” and green onions—perfect for both pizza and macaroni lovers alike. In addition, Dimo’s vegan menu includes traditional pies like Vegan Sausage and Vegan Margherita.

The eatery offers a vegan Ramp Kimchi Pizza, which comes topped with Green Goddess dressing, ramp kimchi, crisp cucumber, cilantro, and dill. Guests who order takeout can also select a variety of beer and wine from their online marketplace—the perfect complement to a plant-based pie!
Fiamme is a traditional, Naples-style Italian restaurant located in the Naperville suburb of Chicago. The vegan menu features mouthwatering pies like the Unbeleafable (vegan spinach and artichoke dip, bruschetta mix, rapini, and vegan mozzarella) and They Don’t Have Beef With Me (seitan pepperoni, seitan sausage crumbles, cashew ricotta, red sauce, vegan mozzarella, and Sicilian oregano). The eatery also offers vegan tiramisu and chocolate & caramel Belgian raw cakes for dessert, so you can end pizza night on a sweet note!
Take a break from the bustle of the city at Homeslice, a rustic-style pizzeria with a cheeky vibe. All of the veggie pizzas can be made vegan by substituting vegan cheese, like the Very Gary (roasted red peppers, onions, black olives, mushrooms, pepperoncini, artichoke hearts, and marinara base) and the Big Teve (spinach, roasted red peppers, onions, mushrooms, oregano, and garlic & olive oil base—sub vegan cheese for parmesan and feta).
Craving a cheesy pie? Knead Great Pizza has all of your needs covered! The Guilt Free pizza is both vegan and gluten-free and comes topped with red sauce, Daiya mozzarella, red peppers, mushrooms, red onion, and spinach. MOD Pizza is a fast-casual concept that specializes in individually sized artisan-style pizzas. Create your own vegan pie with topping options such as dairy-free cheese, red sauce, extra virgin olive oil, artichokes, chickpeas, arugula, tomatoes, roasted garlic, and more. When selecting the pizza crust, be sure to opt for the original or gluten-friendly varieties, as the cauliflower crust contains milk ingredients.
